The Healing Power of Religion

Thursday, September 30, 7-9 PM
Peters Educational Auditorium in the Student Rec Center

Representatives of diverse religious communities will discuss religious diversity, toleration, hospitality, and the healing power of religion. This event will be held in conjunction with the 20th Anniversary of the Peace Garden at Fresno State and the dedication of the Gandhi Memorial. Participants will also be asked to explore the core values that can heal communities and bring people together despite religious differences.

Panelists will include:

· Msgr. Myron Cotta, Vicar General, Catholic Diocese, Fresno

· Rev. Bryan Jessup, Unitarian Universalist Church of Fresno

· Rev. Kurt Rye, Fresno Buddhist Temple

· Dr. Veena Kapoor, Teacher of Raja Yoga Meditation, Fresno

· G.L. Johnson, Pastor Emeritus, People’s Church, Fresno

· Imam Seyed Ali Ghazvini, Islamic Cultural Center, Fresno

· Amrik Singh Virk, Sikh Faith

· Dr. Susan Orovitz, Jewish Faith
