Lecture by Dr. Quintard Taylor entitled "When Blacks Were Latinos: The Intersection of Black and Chicano History in California and the United States Southwest." Dr. Taylor holds the Dorothy Bullitt Endowed Chair of the American West at the University of Washington.
Dr. Taylor is the founder of the website http://www.blackpast.org and has published a number of books on women and the West, blacks in the West, and Blacks and Asians in the Northwest. Some of his major works are Beyond the Racial Frontier, Seeking El Dorado, African American Women Confront the West, 1600-2000. The blackpast website has generated millions of hits and visitors from over 20 countries throughout the world. The essay on Joe Louis and Fidel Castro is quire popular.
