A Film Trilogy: Japanese Americans: Untold Stories WWII to Today

1) Japanese American Internment Survivors Speak (17 min).
Under the false claims of “national security” and “war necessity,” the U.S. Government uprooted 120,000 Americans and permanent legal aliens of Japanese ancestry living on the West Coast and put them into concentration camps. No charges were ever filed. Three couples from Central California were interviewed for this documentary.
2) Hidden Internment: The Art Shibayama Story (27 min).
Approximately 2,300 from 13 Japanese Latin Americans were kidnapped and interned by the U.S. Government. This little known history is revealed through the life story of Art Shibayama, whose family was taken from Peru on March 22, 1944. After years of struggle, Art is still fighting for token reparation and a full disclosure of his human rights violations.
3) 9066 to 9/11 (20 minutes).
This documentary relates two events, what happened following the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, and the horrendous attacks on September 11, 2001. As Americans and immigrants of Japanese ancestry were profiled and their rights were violated after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, so after 9/11 Americans and immigrants of Sikh, Muslim, Arab and South Asian background were profiled and their rights violated.
