William Saroyan’s Will (2008). 2008 marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of Fresno noted native-son, William Saroyan. The Ministry of Culture of Armenia commissioned a film in honor of the centenary. Director Grigor Harutyunyan was in Fresno to film interviews with family and friends of Saroyan. He incorporates never before seen clips of Saroyan visits to Armenia. He also includes contemporary scenes in Armenia. The film also touches on Saroyan's legacy, that is were his final wishes fulfilled or not, thus the title. The film has been seen only once before in the United States and for the first time on the Fresno State campus. In Armenia with English subtitles. 55 min.
