LEADERSHIP: BARRIERS AND OPPORTUNITIES
This presentation will reflect on the barriers for women and minorities to attain positions of leadership. It will also assess the term “dark side.” Utilizing opportunities and the development of working partnerships will be discussed.
Luz Gonzalez, Ph.D.
Luz Gonzalez is the Dean of the College of Social Sciences. Prior to that, she directed Fresno State’s Faculty Mentoring Program and served as Chair of the Department of Chicano and Latin American Studies. Dr. Gonzalez also participated in the development of Fresno State’s “University 1” course for incoming freshmen, and served on the university’s Student Success Task Force. She has been at Fresno State since 1989. She began her teaching career as a first, third and sixth grade teacher with Fresno Unified School District in the early 1980s.
Steven Walker, Ph.D.
Steven Walker is Associate Dean of the College of Social Sciences and former Chair of the Criminology Department. He has been at the University since 1984. Prior to that, he was a licensed clinical psychologist directing various types of public and private mental health programs.
